La petite île de Sao Tomé au large du Gabon en Afrique de l'Ouest est une île au volcanisme éteint située presque au point zéro de latitude et zéro de longitude, ce qui en fait par le pur des hasards des calculs humains, l’île au centre du monde. Elle forme avec l’île de Principe un pays « Sao Tomé et Principe » dont la langue officielle est le portugais.

Son caractère tropical et sa faune endémique exceptionnelle avec le plus petit Ibis et le plus grand tisserin du monde en font un lieu exceptionnel pour découvrir des animaux sauvages exceptionnels. C’est un lieu, où, hors des zones habitées il est encore possible d’écouter une nature parfois exubérante. Les pluies y sont abondantes et dans la forêt qui constitue le parc national il n’est pas rare que dans la même journée il pleuve plusieurs fois.

Ce premier tome sur l’île aux paysages variés de bord de mer, de baobab, de savane arborée et surtout de forêt en montant en altitude vous invite à découvrir une journée en forêt arrosée de trois orages dans le parc national Ôbo au pied du « Pico de Sao Tomé ».

The small island of Sao Tomé, off the coast of Gabon in West Africa, is a volcanically extinct island located almost at zero latitude and zero longitude, making it, by the sheer luck of human calculations, the island at the center of the world. Together with the island of Principe, it forms the country of Sao Tomé and Principe, whose official language is Portuguese.

Its tropical character and exceptional endemic fauna, including the world's smallest Ibis and largest Weaverbird, make it an exceptional place to discover exceptional wildlife. It's a place where, away from inhabited areas, it's still possible to listen to a sometimes exuberant nature. Rainfall is abundant, and in the forest that makes up the national park it is not uncommon for it to rain several times in a single day.

This first volume on the island, with its varied landscapes of seaside, baobab trees, wooded savannah and, above all, forest, invites you to discover a day in the forest, drenched by three thunderstorms, in the Ôbo national park at the foot of the "Pico de Sao Tomé".
